Sterlin Harjo

USA Collins Fellow, 2006

Filmmaker Sterlin Harjo is a member of the Seminole and Creek nations who has produced three shorts about contemporary Native American life. He studied painting at the University of Oklahoma before writing his first feature film script, An Indian on the Moon. Harjo produced music videos for local bands before attending the University of Oklahoma's Film and Video Studies Program. He was one of the first Annenberg Film Fellows at the Sundance Institute, where he spent a year developing his feature film script Four Sheets to the Wind. His short film Goodnight Irene was screened at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, the Berlin Film Festival, and the Aspen Shortfest, where it received Special Jury Recognition. He is currently developing a new screenplay.
