
Paula Morell is the creator and producer of Tales from the South, a radio show where Southerners bring their own true stories to life. Paula received her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop, and her work has appeared in numerous literary journals and magazines, including Short Story Journal, Southern Hum, Outsider Ink, and The Double Dealer Redux. Three times she has presented as an emerging writer at the International Conference on the Short Story, and she teaches creative writing for both universities and community members. She also teaches innovative creative writing workshops for teens and underserved kids.
In 2005 Paula founded Temenos Publishing Company, a small literary press that publishes 2-4 titles a year. Every year Temenos publishes an anthology of the year's stories of Tales from the South. The proceeds from the sale of the anthology goes to the operation of the show.
Tales from the South radio show began in 2004 to givc voice to everyday Southerners telling their stories. It is now heard on multiple Public Radio stations around the country, and on satellite radio (World Radio Network) around the world. Paula edits all stories, develops all shows, and hosts each night. Paula and her husband Jason live in Little Rock, Arkansas and own and operate Starving Artist Cafe', where Tales from the South is held each Tuesday.
