Noted by the Los Angeles Times as one of the "Faces to Watch in 2012", Meg Wolfe is a LA-based choreographer/performer, as well as the founder and artistic director of Show Box LA, a non-profit organization created to serve the needs of the burgeoning experimental dance community of Los Angeles.
Her most recent full-evening work, trembler.SHIFTER, had its world premiere at REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney Cal Arts Theater) in June, 2011. trembler.SHIFTER is a 2011 National Performance Network Creation Fund Project, sponsored by REDCAT in partnership with the Fusebox Festival and NPN.
Wolfe's work has been presented on the west coast at the 2011 Off Center Festival at the Segerstrom Center, REDCAT, the 2009 New Original Works Festival, the Commuter Festival at CalArts, Highways Performance Space, The Unknown Theater, Anatomy Riot, Sea and Space Explorations; Looking Left (Santa Cruz); The East/West Coast Performance Festival (San Diego); and Performance Works NorthWest (Portland, OR).
Her projects have been supported by grants from the National Performance Network Creation Fund, CCI (2011 ARC Grant), the Durfee Foundation (ARC Grant 2008, 2004); Danspace Project Commissioning Initiative (funded in part by the Jerome Foundation); and Meet the Composer Fund; and by residencies including the Djerassi Resident Artist's Program (2011, 2009, 2007, 2005); the Hothouse Residency program at UCLA (summer 2010, 2007), and others.
Based in NYC prior to moving to L.A., her work was presented at venues such as Dance Theater Workshop/Fresh Tracks, Danspace Project at St. Mark's, Dia Center for the Arts, The Kitchen, The Living Theater, Movement Research at Judson Church, Mulberry Street Theater, Nuyorican Poets Café, and others. She appeared frequently as a performer in the works of Vicky Shick (1999-2003); as well as in projects by Sigal Bergman, Yoshiko Chuma, Molissa Fenley, Clarinda Mac Low, and Susan Rethorst.
