Diane Kaplan

Diane Kaplan serves as secretary of the USA Board. She was named president of the Rasmuson Foundation, based in Anchorage, AK, in 2001. She began administering the Foundation in 1995. From 1994-2001, Ms. Kaplan's consulting company provided management and government relations services to philanthropic organizations, Native corporations and tribes, and non-profit organizations. She was previously president and CEO of Alaska's 28-station public radio network. Ms. Kaplan earned a degree in communications and women's studies from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She attended executive management programs at the Wharton School, Stanford University, and UC Berkeley. Ms. Kaplan is past vice-chair of the Council on Foundations and currently serves on the Public Policy Committee and Committee on Inclusiveness. Kaplan is a board member of The Foraker Group and Alaska Children's Trust. She is an advisory board member of the Anchorage Schools Foundation, University of Alaska Honors College, Alaska Railroad Corporation, Philanthropy Northwest and a member of the National Center for Family Philanthropy Issues Advisory Committee. In addition, she is a member of the Anchorage Rotary Club. Ms. Kaplan married Mel Sather in 1987; their family includes three grown sons and five grandchildren.
