A Song+Story: The Lord God Bird
Long Haul's inaugural Song+Story, The Lord God Bird (with original music by Sufjan Stevens), tells the story of how the alleged rediscovery of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker in rural Arkansas gave hope to the hard-luck bayou town of Brinkley. Lord God won a host of major awards and marks a unique amalgam of journalism and art: collaborative storytelling that blends carefully-crafted interview and documentary tape with an original song written as an integral part of the story’s narrative. Since Lord God, we've done several more Song+Stories with other gifted (and overlooked) American musicians.
