USA Projects

As an activist artist, I have explored many ways to make my photography relevant. Trained during a time when we were labeled "Concerned Photographers," I use macro photography to capture 1/15 of a second fractures of TV broadcast time to create satirical work about society and politics. I then use bleach on the surface of my prints to further deconstruct the images. This project is a progressive step in the evolution of a 20 year use of TV culture as my source of imagery.  With this project I have taken those bleached (now abstract) images and transferred them to a beautiful woven blanket, sometimes cutting a gash in the center and hemming the frayed edges, to make a poncho. My Project, "The Big Cover Up," will serve several purposes: It will provide allow the public to make a connection between art and politics, life, and reality; give the American public the opportunity to see performance art as inspired by my exposure to 1970's British street Agit-Art, and best but not last, it will provide a tool to the Occupiers and other 99% protesters that will allow them privacy, warmth and safety during winter and spring encampment months. Blankets will be produced in limited editions per design, making them highly collectible.
