Contemporary Paper and Encaustic: International Trends

AZ

Download Video: Closed Format: MP4 Open Format: OGG / WebM

I am seeking funding in the minimum amount of $12,325 to a full $15,240+ for my project Contemporary Paper and Encaustic, an e-publication surveying international artists who integrate paper and encaustic in innovative and inspiring works. My focus is to present artworks that push the boundaries of paper and encaustic while simultaneously creating a relevant contribution to the contemporary art world.

Your generous contribution will provide for the travel costs to conduct interviews in a video format of 14 international artists, capturing them in their U.S. studios, and enlightening us as to their processes, ideas and content. I invite you to look at the showcase of the visual artists Iʼve curated to interview. Traveling solo to conduct the interviews, I will collaborate with artist Robert Renfrow, who specializes in photography and video, to edit and create the videos.

By funding this project, you will also enable the writing of two pertinent and perceptive forwards by both Joanne Mattera of NYC and Peter Gentenaar of Rijswik, Holland.Their insights into the included curated artists will offer two other perspectives that greatly refine this publication. In addition, I found a dynamic book designer to creatively design this e-book and take charge of all the technical formatting.

Contemporary Paper and Encaustic as an e-book will open with a gallery of artworks by 30+ artists in the first half and the second half will incorporate the studio visit interviews in embedded video links: international artists who explore the diversity of paper combined with the unique properties of wax in collage and chine-collé, photography and printmaking techniques, sculptural paper (either cast, formed orwoven), encaustic monoprinting and molten painting on paper, and in artists books.

If I can achieve a full funding of $15,240, Iʼll be able to travel to interview 13 more artists within their studios, totaling 27 interviews...that is my true hope and will make this publication into the rich resource I envision!

Thank you for your support!
