120 Days of Amplitude
- Visual Arts
What is it?
Watch the video and read on. Essentially, 120 Days of Amplitude is four months of committed Artistic & Spiritual discipline designed to yield life-changing results, a strong body of work, and a book about it all. We have a minimum goal of $12,000.00 which will cover 120 days worth of studio expenses, materials and supplies, the development and printing of the book, and the rental of exhibition space.
Why the 120 Days?
In Kundalini Yoga, my yogic and spiritual discipline, we say that it takes 40 days to change or break a habit and 90 days to confirm the habit. In 120 days, the new habit becomes who you are. The commitment to 120 days is what gives this project it’s power and what maximizes the quality and quantity of the output. Committing to creating art and taking on a goal-specific spiritual practice for 120 consecutive days is no small thing. I believe that committing to 120 Days of Amplitude will transform my artistic and spiritual life and it will give me the opportunity to help others find a way do that for themselves.
The dictionary definition of amplitude as it relates to physics is the maximum extent of a vibration or oscillation, measured from the position of equilibrium.
When this project is funded with your generous support, it will give me the equilibrium necessary to increase my artistic output in concert with a deepened spiritual connection. Your support makes it possible for me to purchase the required materials (canvas, oil paints, paper, ink and other supplies) and to assign the imperative studio time it will take to bring this project to life. Funding this project will give me the freedom to create my art without the normal fiscal pressures that keep me out of the studio. With regard to the definition of amplitude, funding this project will help me to produce the maximum output both artistically and spiritually in the given period of time from a position of equilibrium.
What is 120 Days of Amplitude about?
When I travelled to India, I found that the sacred and the profane aspects of life were perfectly balanced. I have seen that when I have travelled to other places, but in India the display of devotion in every day life touched me deeply. Finding this balance between the sacred and the profane is the focus of 120 Days of Amplitude. Some call it Love, some call it devotion. I'm creating this project to find that balance in my art and in my life.
The formula is simple: a specific daily practice of yoga and meditation designed to increase the infinite flow of creativity and a minimum of 3-5 hours of studio work each day. From a state of deep receptivity, I will examine, using my art as my looking glass, the connection that we as humans have with the Infinite and with each other.

How can we keep in touch?
I will be journaling and/or blogging, and photographing the project every few days. I'll be updating on Facebook, the USA Project Update pages and blog and other social media. Four months of committed artistic and spiritual discipline is destined to yield surprising, profound and prolific results.
Will this be recorded?
A part of this project is writing a book about my experience; part journal, part yoga manual, part guidebook, part monograph which I will self-publish at the end of the project. Your donations are crucial in getting this book out so that others might benefit from my experience. Also in the budget are the funds to stage an exhibition to celebrate and share the fruits of my labor and discipline.
I believe that one's artistic and spiritual journeys are one and the same and the time is NOW. Please join me on this journey of 120 Days of Amplitude and pledge your support.
