California Community Foundation Fund
A match fund for artist projects in all disciplines.
This matching fund was created by the California Community Foundation (CCF), a public, charitable organization serving the diverse people of Los Angeles County, inspiring philanthropy among individuals, making grants to nonprofits and actively engaging in community problem solving with all sectors. In 2009-2010, CCF awarded 18 fellowships to Los Angeles visual artists and nearly $1.5 million to small and mid-sized community based arts nonprofits helping to make the arts part of everyday life for all communities in L.A.

This gift is made possible with generous funding from The James Irvine Foundation (http://www.irvine.org/) through the Communities Advancing the Arts Initiative (http://advancethearts.org/).

The USA Fellowship allowed me to finish The Kid, a novel I had been working on for four years. I was able to turn down some speaking engagements and concentrate on my book.
